Robert Zemeckis refused to remake The Wizard of Oz
Robert Zemeckis turned down an offer from Warner Bros. to make a remake of the movie The Wizard of Oz. This is reported by the EW edition with reference to the director's official representatives. They confirmed that the appropriate negotiations with the studio management were underway, but did not specify the wording of the refusal. Note that Zemeckis had previously refused another proposal - to restart the Superman movie franchise. at the time of this writing, he was working on another remake, Yellow Submarine, based on songs by the Beatles. Robert Zemeckis also plans to shoot a science fiction movie Timeless, dedicated to time travel.
