Review of the movie A simple request. Supermom Saga

Who is our cocktail specialist? Bond? No longer! Blake Lively in "A Simple Request" is so stirring and mixing that it is just right to jump up and run to the nearest bar. Honestly.

Frankly speaking, another "female movie" by Paul Feig, director of "Bachelorette Party in Vegas", "Cops in Skirts" and "Ghostbusters" (I liked the "Spy" after all, mainly thanks to Jude Law and Jason Statham) there was no particular desire to watch. How wrong I was! Whether the original source – the novel of the same name by Darcy Bell – did not allow Feig to flood the narrative with jokes below the belt, or Feig just grew wiser. Forgive me for my arrogance, but I remember with horror – no, trying to forget - McCarthy and the sink, if you know what I mean. So, in "A Simple Request" there is no toilet humor, everything is very easy and natural.

The plot of the thriller, although, in my opinion, this is a real crime comedy, takes place in a sunny suburb, where lonely ladies of Balzac age you can kill time in several ways – be active mothers, gossip, bake cookies and keep a video blog. Kendrick's heroine, Stephanie, is just that, except for gossip. The parents of her son's classmates are discussing this with might and main behind her back. she is very energetic, just a supermom, and this, you see, infuriates. And then the fatal beauty Emily (Lively) appears on the radar, she is also a mother (although it is not clear why she and Stephanie did not know each other before), and the beginning of the friendship between the gray guinea fowl and the firebird was laid, all the more so, this case was immediately washed up. The firebird's talented but not punchy husband, writer Sean (Henry Golding), will be introduced almost immediately. And just a few days later, Emily will ask Stephanie to look after her son after school, and no one else has seen her.

And here begins the detective story, mysticism, suspense, mind games, psychology and pedagogy. The trio's body movements inspired me with the 2016 Korean erotic thriller "The Handmaid". There, too, two ladies and a man fooled the audience, and it was not completely clear who was fooling whom. In A Simple Request, it may not be so confusing, but the twists and intrigue persist almost to the end. It's interesting to watch, I didn't notice any special sagging.

Feig chose the right actors and actresses and experimented with genres. The movie - this cocktail of thriller, detective, drama and comedy - looks fresh and creates a very pleasant aftertaste. What am I all about drinks? So no wonder – in the movie they drink a lot, with gusto, but culturally. They also dress very nicely and wear chic clothes. Lively is, of course, stunning. Do you remember how Vera from "Office Romance" broadcast about the grace of a panther before the jump? So, this is about Lively. Rupert Friend amused and made the girlish cheeks slightly flush by playing an extravagant fashion designer. I would not have thought that the focused Peter Quinn from Homeland could be so nervous about an improperly tied headscarf.

Kendrick was always indifferent to her and did not understand some buzz 'around her. She has always been the indistinct Jessica from "Twilight" to me. Yes, and in "Up in the sky" I was not impressed by her heroine and, as a result, did not understand why there was an Oscar nomination. Probably, that's all, I haven't watched more movies with her participation, so it was interesting to see Kendrick as if anew. She, it turns out, is a good comedic actress and knows how to look into the camera – demonstrates a complex spectrum of feelings.

And finally, about music, because it was she who immediately determined the genre - – comedic – and it doesn't matter what you put next – thriller, detective or drama. The title credits to a peppy French song reminded both "The Pink Panther" and Bond movies. In general, French songs are played in the movie almost all the time, and they, you see, create a special mood.

"A simple request" I boldly recommend the widest viewer audience up to 16, because erotica, albeit slightly, is presented. And also, do not be lenient with supermoms, because in each of them that hurricane is still sleeping.
