The remake of RoboCop, which was to be directed by director Darren Aronofsky, is officially dead. According to the Financial Times, the director left the project, and all work on it was terminated due to the dire financial situation of the MGM movie company.
Previously, MGM planned to release the movie in 2011. Aronofsky and David Self had already finished the script for the movie and were planning to start casting shortly.
Recall that the original movie by Paul Verhoeven was released in 1987 and is now considered a classic of science fiction cinema.
