The British Film Institute has unveiled the first in four decades a new trailer for the famous sci-fi movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
It was edited to draw the attention of viewers to the limited release of a restored version of Stanley Kubrick's painting, due to start in the UK on 28 November 2014. The movie will be re-screened on a wide screen as part of the Sci-Fi: Days of Fears and Wonder program.
Recall that the premiere of the tape "2001: A Space Odyssey", based on the story of Arthur Clarke, took place in 1968. The movie quickly gained cult status and is now considered one of the best science fiction projects in the history of cinema.
"2001: A Space Odyssey" traditionally occupies high places in various ratings, for example, in the list of the best paintings released during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. In the early 90s, the tape was included in the US National Register as a cultural property. In honor of the movie, the US Space Administration NASA named the satellite orbiting Mars "Mars: 2001 Mars Odyssey".
In 1984, director Peter Hyams movieed a sequel that was no longer so popular with viewers and critics.
