AMC ordered production of The Walking Dead spin-off pilot

Channel AMC has officially announced the start of work on the spin-off of the series "The Walking Dead". The network has commissioned the production of a pilot episode of the television project, which is being done by the creator of the comic "The Walking Dead" Robert Kirkman, as well as producers of the original show - Gail Ann Heard and David Elpert. As previously reported, Dave Erickson, who worked on the pilot with Kirkman, has been appointed executive producer and showrunner for the TV project. The Hollywood Reporter writes about it.

Production of the pilot will begin in late 2014, and a press release from AMC states that events will focus on the zombie pocalypse taking place in other parts of the world.
