Ridley Scott will not be directing Blade Runner 2 and will only retain his producer role. He spoke about this in an interview with Variety.

According to Scott, the script has already been completed, and in the near future viewers will know the name of the new director. The director also confirmed the return of Harrison Ford to the role of Rick Deckard. "Harrison is an important part of this story. Actually, it will be about the search for his hero. He will appear in the third act of the picture," he said.

The shooting schedule for the sequel and its possible premiere date have not yet been specified. Recall that Blade Runner, based on Philip Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, was released in 1982, and, despite a very modest collection, is now considered a classic of the fantastic genre. The movie stars Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M. Emmett Walsh, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James, Joe Turkel, Joanna Cassidy and other actors.

After the death of Dick, several works were written continuing the story he invented. Perhaps one of them was used by the scriptwriters as a basis.

The next movie by Ridley Scott, which viewers will be able to see on the big screen, will be "Exodus: Gods and Kings". The tape is based on the biblical legend about the prophet Moses and the exodus of the Jews from Egypt. The premiere will take place on December 12, 2014. In USA, the start of the movie has been postponed until January 1, 2015.
