Liam Neeson turned down the offer to play James Bond because of a woman. The actor himself spoke about this in an interview with the Hull Daily Mail.
“These were very serious negotiations, frankly speaking. I am sure that the same negotiations were conducted with other actors. It was 18-19 years ago, and my wife-to-be said that if I agreed to the role of Bond, she would not marry me. I could not ignore this argument, because I wanted to marry her, "the actor said.
Recall that Neeson's wife was actress Natasha Richardson. She passed away in 2009 after suffering a severe head injury while skiing.
Rejecting the role of James Bond did not have a critical impact on the acting career.
