The Robinson family and the rest of the Jupiter 2 crew plan to return to television. According to Deadline, Legendary TV and Dracula writers Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless are preparing a relaunch of Irwin Allen's classic series Lost in Space.

Sci-fi series based on Johann David Wiss's novel The Robinson Family, launched on CBS in 1965 and followed the adventures of a spacecraft launched into space from Earth back in 1997. The ship's crew consisted of members of the Robinson family – parents and three children - as well as the pilot, Major Don West, Dr. Zachary Smith and the Robot.

The series ran for three seasons and included 83 episodes. Attempts have been made twice to movie television remakes, which have been unsuccessful. In 1998, Stephen Hopkins' full-length movie, "Lost in Space" written by Akiva Goldsman and Irwin Allen, was released.

Sazama and Sharpless, who, in addition to writing the script, will act as executive producers, are big fans of the franchise. It is not yet clear whether the relaunch will be complete or whether the new series "Lost in Space" will tell about the adventures of a different crew, or it will be a kind of mix.
