Homeland star Damian Lewis returns to Showtime. He and Academy Award-nominated Paul Giamatti ("Knockdown") will star in the pilot of the drama "Billions". This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the center of the plot of the drama "Billions" will be two titanic figures from the world of finance – the brilliant US Attorney Chuck Rhodes (Giamatti) and the ambitious hedge fund king Bobby "Ax" Axelrod (Lewis).

The director of the pilot, which begins movieing in New York in early 2015, will be appointed by Neil Berger (" Areas of Darkness "). The Billions pilot is written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman (Ocean's Thirteen), David Levin (Va-Bank) and Andrew Ross Sorkin.

Pilot brings back Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis to Showtime, where he starred in the spy drama Homeland. Thanks to the popularity of the actor's character, Nicholas Brody, and the efforts of channel president David Nevins, Lewis's participation in the drama expanded to three seasons instead of one, as originally intended. On television, Lewis starred in the series "Brothers in Arms", "Life is a sentence." In 2015, BBC Two will air the six-part television project Wolf Hall with the actor.

For Paul Giamatti, the role in the pilot will be another act of collaboration with Koppelman and Levin, producers of The Illusionist, and Sorkin, by whose book "Too Big To Fail" HBO directed the TV movie of the same name "Too Big To Fail" featuring an actor. In the event that the production of the drama "Billions" after the pilot stage is given the green light, Giamatti will have a first regular role in the series.
