The Weinstein Co., owned by Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein, has sued the creators of The Hobbit Trilogy, Warner Bros. and New Line. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The lawsuit submitted to the Supreme Court of New York seeks compensation in the amount of $ 75 million.

Previously, representatives of Warner Bros. stated that the Weinstein brothers could claim a portion of the profits from the distribution of only the first part of The Hobbit trilogy. In their opinion, these were the terms of the contract concluded in 1998 between the Miramax company owned by the brothers and the studio New Line.

The plaintiffs, in turn, insist that the agreement will give them the rights to share the profits from the distribution of all three movies.

Remember that The Hobbit 2: The Desolation of Smaug will be released on December 13, 2013.
