ABC has acquired the rights to produce a remake of the hit South Korean TV series 'My Love From Another Star' (`` Man from the Star ''). This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the Korean hit, "My Love From Another Star" reflects on the superhero's duty to save the whole world and wonders why he can't save just one girl. The upcoming ABC series is positioned as an epic supernatural love story about world famous pop star Lark and her withdrawn neighbor James, who is revealed to be from another planet. Frustrated by the pettiness of human nature and having lived on Earth for several hundred years, James vowed to himself that he would never use his abilities to interfere with the lives of those around him. But when he receives a warning that the annoyingly selfish but irresistible Lark is in mortal danger, James is caught up in her chaotic life and falls head over heels in love. At the same time, he finally has a chance to return to his home among the stars.

Elizabeth Kraft and Sarah Fane (The Hundred, The Vampire Diaries) will write and executive produce. Creator of the original series, Ji-eun Park, will share executive production with Po-mi-moon. Production will be handled by HB Entertainment and EnterMedia Contents, with contributions from Sony Pictures Television.

Released in February 2014 in Korea, the romantic drama has become one of the country's most popular programs. The show has set records in Korea and China on the streaming service iqiyi –
