The Weinstein Co. canceled the premiere of the science fiction movie Passengers, scheduled for April 3, 2015, in which Keanu Reeves was to play the main role. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

It also became known that the project was left by the female lead Rachel McAdams. The reasons for her departure and cancellation of the premiere have not yet been specified.

Recall that The Weinstein Co. acquired the rights to screen the movie in North America at the Cannes Film Market in 2013. Now the moviemakers will have to look for a new distributor.

The movie was supposed to take place in the distant future on board a spaceship. One of the crew members suddenly comes out of cryogenic sleep 90 years before the end of the flight and, realizing that he will have to spend the rest of his days alone, wakes one of the passengers.

Filming was scheduled to begin in April 2014 in Germany.
