Liam Neeson, Andrew Garfield and Ken Watanabe will star in the drama Silence, which Martin Scorsese is about to direct. This is reported by the Deadline edition.

The picture will be based on the novel of the same name by the famous Japanese writer Shusaku Endo. The protagonist of the work is a Portuguese Jesuit priest who arrives in Japan in the 17th century as a missionary. He was captured, tortured and forced to verbally renounce his faith. However, in reality, the priest continues his mission in secret.

Note that Scorsese has been trying to movie this work for two decades. Filming is expected to start in autumn 2014. The rental schedule has not yet been determined.
