Hugh Grant will not star in the third installment of Bridget Jones's Diary. The British actor himself spoke about this in an interview with The Guardian.

"I made the decision not to do it. But I think that they will still be able to shoot the picture without Daniel's participation," he said. Grant did not elaborate on the reason for his refusal, only emphasized that the last script of the movie, which he saw, "is very different from the book."

Note that the movie called "Bridget Jones's Baby" was in development for several years, but in 2012 it was frozen, according to rumors, precisely because of Grant's dissatisfaction with the script. However, then the moviemakers insisted that there was no question of the actor leaving the project. At the time of this writing, the movie's producers have not commented on Grant's statement.

Recall that the original movie, based on the novel of the same name by Helen Fielding, was released in 2001. Renee Zellweger, Gemma Jones, Celia Imri, Jim Broadbent, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant and other actors played the main roles in it. With a budget of only $ 25 million, the picture earned more than $ 280 million at the worldwide box office. A few years later, a not-so-successful sequel was released, grossing $ 262 million.
