The National Film Registry of the United States has presented its traditional list of 25 movies that are recognized as national treasure and will be sent to the special archives of the US Library of Congress for eternal storage.

This year's nominees were such iconic movie projects as "The Big Lebowski" (1998), "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), "Rosemary's Baby" (1968), "State Fair" (1933), and also Pixar's first computer-generated animated movie, Luxo Jr. (1986), and the first studio color stereoscopic movie, The Wax Museum (1953).

Recall that according to the law called "National Film Preservation Act", the first edition of which was approved in 1988, every year 25 movies are selected that have cultural and historical value. According to the conditions, at least 10 years must pass from the moment of the premiere of the movie, so that the significance of the project thus passes the test of time.

Film and digital copies are stored in special conditions that allow them to be preserved in unchanged quality for an almost unlimited period for future generations of viewers and researchers. At the time of this writing, there are over 650 movies in the Library of Congress archive.
