Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will star in a TV show for the first time
Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will star in a limited-episode TV series based on Leanne Moriarty's novel "Big Little Lies". The novel will be adapted by ten-time Emmy-winning David E. Kelly (Crazy). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be offered to cable networks (such as HBO, Showtime, Starz) and streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon). The rights to the novel, published in July 2014, were acquired by Blossom Films and Pacific Standard, owned by Kidman and Witherspoon, respectively. In the novel, the main characters are three mothers whose children go to the same kindergarten. At an ill-fated kindergarten fundraiser, a mysterious murder takes place, and this event dramatically changes the lives of previously prosperous ladies. Kelly, Witherspoon and Kidman will share the functions of executive producers. The author of the novel, Australian writer Liane Moriarty, has been appointed producer of the TV project. For the Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line) and Nicole Kidman (The Watch) – The Big Bad Lies series will be the first TV project in which they will star.
