Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who directed the comedy 2013 End of the World: Apocalypse in Hollywood, along with Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), are adapting Vertigo's Preacher for AMC. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The "Preacher" comic series, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon in the 1990s, focuses on the Reverend Jesse Custer, an obstinate Texas preacher who, having lost his faith, discovers that God left Heaven and neglected his duties. Jesse is the only one who is able to find God and hold him responsible for his actions. Tulip O ’ Hare – beer lover and ex-girlfriend Jesse accompanies him as he searches for answers.

Rogen and Goldberg will write the script, and Kathleen will act as showrunner for The Preacher. All three will take over as executive producers. "This is incredible! We have been trying for seven years to get the right to work on the project, and we are crazy about the happiness that AMC gave us this opportunity. This is our favorite comic in the world, and we will do everything to movie it correctly," - said Rogen and Goldberg.

There have been two attempts to movie the comic for the wide screen. HBO also had plans to make a series based on it, however, according to one of the channel's executives, "Preacher" was "too dark, too violent and too controversial."
