Viola Davis will play the mysterious law professor
Twice Oscar nominee (Doubt, Servant) Viola Davis will star in the ABC drama pilot How to Avoid Punishment for Murder from executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The plot of the thriller is centered on a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant and mysterious criminal defense teacher. Students find themselves embroiled in an assassination conspiracy that could affect not only their studies, but their entire life. Davis's character, Anneliese DeWitt, professor of jurisprudence and renowned criminal defense attorney, is described as brilliant. passionate, creative, a charismatic and ruthless professional both in the courtroom and in the lectern in the audience. DeWitt is an excellent manipulator, especially for her students, five of whom she chooses to work at her firm. Married to a professor of psychology, she has a side relationship that no one knows about.
