Production of the original Starz series "Flesh and Bone" has begun. According to ComingSoon, citing Starz, the shooting of the first season, consisting of eight episodes, started this week in New York.
The plot is centered on – a young ballerina with a difficult past who came to New York and joined the troupe of a prestigious ballet studio. The story, told in dark tones, explores both sides of the ballet world – glamorous and destructive.
The leading female role will be played by the famous ballerina Sarah Hay ("Black Swan"). She joined other previously confirmed ballet dancers Irina Dvovenko, Sasha Radetsky, Rachel Diana Weiner and Emily Tyra. Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet Theater Ethan Stifel has been appointed as choreographer for the series.
Originator, Moira Whalley (Breaking Bad), will share executive producer duties with Lawrence Bender, Kevin Brown and John P. Melfi. The director of the first episode – David Michaud (Vagabond).
The series will air on Starz in 2015.
