Australia agreed to subsidize Pirates of the Caribbean 5

The Australian Government has agreed to provide financial support to the moviemakers of Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales provided that movieing will take place in the country.

According to Variety, the initiative, involving investments of up to $ 20 million, was announced by the Minister of Culture George Brandis.

Previously stated, that movieing could begin in early 2015 with an eye on the premiere on July 7, 2017.

Australia has previously provided tax credits for another Walt Disney project, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. However, the movie adaptation was frozen after David Fincher turned down the director's post.

By the directors of Piart 5 Joaquim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, who previously directed Kon-Tiki. The main role will be played by Johnny Depp and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
