Digital Domain Studio Goes Chinese

The notorious Digital Domain studio, which specializes in special effects for Hollywood movies, is going through hard times.

According to Variety, 70 percent of the assets will belong to the Beijing-based Galloping Horse company, and 30 percent - Indian company Reliance Mediaworks. The deal amounted to only $ 30.2 million.

Partners will have at their disposal studios in California and Vancouver, and will oversee all Digital Domain projects, within the framework of previously concluded contracts.

Recall that Digital Domain, once one of the leading players in the CGI market, filed for bankruptcy in early September 2012.

This procedure will allow the company to get deferred payments to creditors and restructure.
