CBS has officially announced that CSI's CSI Crime Scene 15 will be its final season and the show will end with a two-hour TV movie. Series star William L. Petersen, who starred in the first nine seasons, will return to his character Gilbert Grissom. Marge Helgenberger (Katherine Willows) will also return to the TV movie, which is scheduled to premiere on September 27, 2015. As for series star Ted Danson, he will be movieing a regular role in the spin-off of the original series, CSI: Cyberspace, which launched in March this year. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The police procedural five times in its history has become the most popular drama broadcast live on public television. Last year, in connection with the departure of one of the showrunners of the project, Carol Mendelssohn, the series handed over the palm to the series "NCIS: Special Department." – 18 instead of 22. Now that the show has been officially closed, the new CSI: Cyberspace starring Patricia Arquette remains the franchise's only TV show.

The original spawned three spin-offs and survived two of them – "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation New York", which "did not receive the honor" to end with a TV movie.
