Paramount Pictures has canceled the March 25, 2016 premiere of Beverly Hills Cop 4. This is reported by the Variety edition.

The reason for this decision was not specified, and a new release date for the sequel to the famous action movie has not been set. The movie was to be directed by Brett Ratner and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In the fourth movie, the main character Alex Foley was supposed to return to his hometown of Detroit.

Note that the project has been in development for many years, and it was originally planned to shoot not a full-length sequel, but a television series, in the center of the plot of which will be Fowley's son, who also became a law enforcement officer.

Recall that the original movie was released in 1984 and became a worldwide sensation, earning a whopping $ 316 million at that time. The first part was followed by two sequels - in 1987 and 1994. The last movie flopped in North America and barely paid off at the worldwide box office.

In addition to canceling the premiere of the fourth "Cop and Beverly Hills", Paramount Pictures has also announced the premiere of an as-yet-unnamed movie, which will be produced in collaboration with Bad Robot. It will be presented to viewers on March 11, 2016.
