Writer Bret Easton Ellis clarified his remarks about the problems with the script for a solo movie about Batman, which is going to shoot Ben Affleck. In a lengthy commentary on his Twitter page, he admitted that he did not read the script in person, but spoke with people who are aware of what is happening.

"In a lengthy interview with The Ringer, Sean Fennessy, I shared my thoughts on why modern studio movies are of such low quality, we also discussed the need for international distribution for Hollywood movie production. As an example that well illustrates the problem, I gave a story, which is related to the solo Batman movie. I spoke with two executives who were not involved in the creation of the picture, but knew who were involved in the process. We had lunch together and they shared information with me about the problems with the script, which they learned from those who work on the project. I do not know personally any of the moviemakers, and did not realize that my comments would be interpreted as criticism of the movie. I do not know the content of the script for "Batman" and I regretit sounded like I was criticizing the project. Another reason to be careful when interviewing, "he wrote.

Recall that in a conversation with The Ringer's correspondent Bret Easton Ellis said that he had heard from his acquaintances about problems with the script of the movie about "Batman" and that the studio management did not want to correct mistakes, convinced that they were nobody will notice.
