Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the drama War of the Currents, which will be produced by Timur Bekmambetov. This is reported by the Variety edition.
The plot of the movie will focus on the rivalry between the famous inventors Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse as they aimed to create the world's first operational and commercially viable electrical grid. As you know, Edison was a supporter of direct current, while his opponent was an alternating one. Westinghouse's position was supported by another famous scientist and pioneer - Nikola Tesla.
The role of Edison went to Cumberbatch, and Westinghouse will be played by Gyllenhaal. The project will be funded by TWC studio, which will then present it at the box office. Note that for the first time this movie was reported back in 2013, but only in the second half of 2015, Timur Bekmambetov managed to form a worthy acting troupe.
As for Benedict Cumberbatch, in 2016 viewers will be able to see him in Doctor Strange, based on Marvel comics. In turn, Gyllenhaal is announced in a biographical drama entitled "The Man Responsible for the Snowball," which will also be presented to all fans of the actor's talent in 2016.
