Weinstein Television is developing a limited-episode eight to ten episode series dedicated to King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The Weinstein Company has struck a deal with the heirs of Elvis Presley, obtaining the rights to the singer's music catalog and the opportunity to conduct production on the Presley Graceland estate. The production will get access to cars, clothes and other rarities of the legendary musician.

The series will be based on Dave Marsh's book "Elvis", published in 1982. According to the deal, the creators of the series will have the opportunity to study Presley's archive, which contains, among other things, his personal diaries. The screenwriter and network have not been found yet.

Presley's ex-wife Priscilla Presley will share executive producer duties with Jerry Schilling, Harvey Weinstein and David Glasser.

"I'm a big fan of Harvey Weinstein's independent movies," said Priscilla Presley in a statement. – I'll be glad work with him on this show and tell stories about how Elvis changed the culture of music and initiated a revolution that marked the beginning of a new world. "

This will not be the first television project dedicated to the famous performer. In 2005, Jonathan Reese Meyers played Presley in the CBS miniseries "Elvis. The Early Years", earning a Golden Globe for the role.

Elvis Presley, who had not only a musical career, but also starred in several movies , died in 1977 at the age of 42.
