The CW commissioned the production of the pilot of Kevin Williamson's drama series Radio Wave, based on the 2000 feature movie Radio Wave, starring Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel. In the center of the plot of the yet unnamed drama is a young woman who turns to a parapsychologist for help when faced with a paranormal phenomenon. Williamson will write and executive produce with David Nutter, who will direct the pilot. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Radio Wave was originally developed for NBC in the 2014-2014 season, but moved to The CW earlier this year. The CW version is described as a reimagining of the feature-length New Line Cinema. Main character, police detective, in 2016 discovers that he can talk on amateur radio with his father (also a police officer), who died in 1996. Gradually forging new relationships, they work together on an unsolved murder, but the unintended consequences of the butterfly effect are wreaking havoc in the present.

For the 2015-2016 season, Williamson is working with three pilots on different television networks. With the reboot of Radiowaves, he continues his relationship with The CW, where he executive produced The Vampire Diaries. At ABC, Williamson is working on the reboot of Time Machine Travel, and at Fox, he is working on the Recon project, which will combine him with Julie Plec and Caroline Drys from The Vampire Diaries.
