North America has set a new box office record. This time it is about the speed of reaching the $ 10 billion mark. As a result, in 2015, the box office in North America reached $ 11 billion, thanks to the fantastic start of the movie "Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens", which earned almost $ 250 million in its first weekend alone. The main "locomotives" of the American box office in 2016 were also the movie projects of the Walt Disney studio and its subsidiaries. And the absolute leader was the animated movie Finding Dory, which grossed $ 486 million in North America. In second place was Marvel's movie Captain America: Civil War, which grossed $ 408 million. By the end of the year, Walt Disney will have two more major releases - the cartoon "Moana" and the first spin-off of "Star Wars". Naturally, none of them will be able to repeat the historic record of the seventh episode, but together they may well "push" the American rental beyond the $ 11 billion mark.
