NBC has found a young "version" of Liam Neeson for the pilot of Taken, the television prequel to EuropaCorp TV USA and Universal Television's full-length Hostage franchise. Neeson's character, Brian Mills, will be played by Vikings star Clive Standen, best known for playing the Viking Rollo in Michael Hirst's fantasy television show. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The TV drama is described as a prequel to the 2008 Luc Besson movie, which takes place today. In the movie, CIA operative Brian Mills single-handedly searches for his kidnapped daughter. The series will show how the young Mills improved his skills and abilities, getting into an elite squad carrying out secret government operations.

Alexander Carey ("Homeland") will write the script and take on the duties of showrunner. He will share executive producer functions with Besson, as well as Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. The director of the pilot is Alex Graves, who has worked on the TV series Shameless, Game of Thrones, Edge, Terra Nova and others.

From Standen's recent projects – the drama of the Starz channel "Camelot" and the movie "Everest", and from the forthcoming -; "Patient Zero".
