The famous British actress Judy Dench was awarded the UK's highest theater award named after Lawrence Olivier. This is reported on the official website of the London Theater Society, which awards the award.

The award went to the actress for her supporting role in The Winter's Tale, co-directed by Kenneth Branagh. Thus, Dench already has eight Olivier awards, more than any living artist.

The award also went to another famous British actress Imelda Staunton for her work in the production of "Gypsy", which also won in the category "Best Musical". Denis Gough ("People, Places And Things") was named Best Female Lead.

Kenneth Cranham, who played in the play "The Father", received the Olivier Prize in the category "Best Actor". The awards ceremony took place at London's Royal Opera House. Note that the British Laurence Olivier Award is a kind of analogue of the American Theater Award "Tonny". In 2016 it was presented for the 40th time.
