The Deep Sea Horizon disaster movie, which chronicles the biggest accident on a drilling platform in 2010, has left director JC Chandor, who has directed such movies as The Limit of Risk and Hope Never Fails. According to The Wrap, the reason for the resignation was creative differences.

The vacant seat was taken by director Peter Berg ("The Survivor", "Hancock"). Recall that the dramatic incident, which will be discussed in the movie, took place on the BP drilling platform on April 20, 2010, 80 kilometers off the coast of Louisiana. The oil spill that followed the explosion became the largest in US history, and the accident itself was recognized as one of the largest man-made disasters. A third of the water area of the Gulf of Mexico was closed to fishing, 1,700 kilometers of the coast were polluted. The explosion killed 11 people, dozens were injured.

BP was forced to spend tens of billions of dollars to eliminate the consequences of the accident and pay compensation. The emergency well was completely sealed only by September 2010.

The lead role is to be played by Mark Wahlberg, who has already met Peter Berg on the set of The Survivor.
