The creator of Sleepy Hollow is about to adapt yet another popular historical legend for a TV format. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has signed an agreement with Phillip Iscove to write the screenplay for the drama Moro, based on HG Wells 'novel Dr. Moreau's Island.

In Wells' science fiction novel published in 1896, a shipwrecked man ends up on an island where Dr. Moreau, exiled from London, creates beast-men through vivisection experiments.

The upcoming CBS drama will take place today, with the main character a woman - smart and fearless Dr. Catherine Monroe, who pushes the boundaries of medicine, conducting groundbreaking science experiments at his private clinic on the island.

In addition to writing the screenplay, Iscove will take on executive producer duties with Frank Marshall (Jurassic World) and Robert Zotnovsky (House of Cards) .

Wells' novel was movieed several times – in 1932 with Bela Lugosi, in 1977 with Bert Lancaster and in 1996 with Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer in the lead roles. References to the novel can be found in the BBC America's Dark Child.
