Matthew McConaughey received an offer to play one of the main roles in the movie adaptation of the Stephen King series "The Dark Tower". This is reported by The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter. The first claims that the popular actor was offered the role of the knight errant Roland Descene, the second suggests that he will get the role of a villain named Randall Flagg.
Both publications emphasize that the parties are still at the very early stages of negotiations. Representatives of the studio Sony Pictures do not comment on the casting process. It is worth noting that McConaughey's name was already mentioned earlier in the news about the adaptation of King's other famous work - "Confrontation". It was assumed that in this movie project he could also play the role of Flagg, who appears in several of the writer's books.
At the time of this writing, the director of the first movie based on the "Dark Tower" series was Nikolai Arsel, who had previously shot the picture "The Royal Affair". The project will be produced by Ron Howard, who previously planned to take the director's chair.
Let us remind you that the plot of "The Dark Tower" is built around Descein, who travels the world in search of the mysterious Dark Tower, a mythical place that keeps all worlds from destruction and chaos. The movie will premiere on January 13, 2017.
