The award ceremony of the International Berlin Film Festival took place in Germany. The main prize - "Golden Bear", was awarded by the jury to the documentary movie "Fire at Sea" by the Italian director Gianfranco Rosi, dedicated to the problems of refugees.
The same work was awarded an award by the ecumenical jury and the human rights organization Amnesty International. Mia Hansen-Lev, the creator of the movie entitled "The Future", was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director.
Danish Trine Durholm, who played in the movie "Commune" by Thomas Winterberg, and Tunisian actor Majd Mastura, who played the main role in Ben Attiy's movie "Hedi", were recognized as the best actors. The same picture was recognized as the best debut. The Grand Prix of the jury, as well as the prize of the International Film Press Federation FIPRESCI, went to the movie by the Bosnian director Danis Tanovic "Death in Sarajevo".
Note that there were no USA movie projects in the main competition program. As a reminder, the Berlin International Film Festival was held from 11 to 21 February 2016.
