The NBC channel has decided to cancel the sequel of the popular sitcom "Trainer", which was ordered for production in March this year. It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Original show creator Barry Camp was slated to write the script and executive producer along with series star Craig T. Nelson ("Parents"), who was to return to his the role of trainer Hayden Fox.

In the new thirteen-episode series, retired Fox is invited to become the assistant coach, who is his now grown-up son (Andrew Rydings, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"). Original show star Bill Fagerbakki was poised to return to Fox's assistant, Michael Dibinski.

Insiders argue that the comedy, which has just begun production, hasn't inspired many at NBC from the start.

"The Coach", who had no premiere date, has joined other 2015-16 series that clashed with problems of a different nature. Showrunners have changed in four TV projects, three have changed their names, and in a number of them there have been selective changes in the cast.

Initially, "The Trainer" was broadcast on ABC from 1989 to 1997.
