Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television will adapt Aldous Huxley's acclaimed novel Brave New World for Syfy as a scripted series. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Brave New World is ranked fifth among the top 100 English-language novels of the twentieth century by Modern Library. The novel takes place in a world where there is no poverty, war and disease. People are given drugs that affect the psyche, free love is accepted in society, and consumption is elevated to a cult. Humans are no longer born naturally, they reproduce in "hatcheries". Those who do not meet the standards are sent to "reserve" until one of the "savages" challenges the system, endangering the existence of the entire social order.

The novel, first published in 1932, will be adapted by Leslie Boehm, who already has experience with Syfy and Amblin Television. Boehm executive produced and wrote the screenplay for the Abductee miniseries, which won an Emmy in 2003 in the main category and was nominated in six other nominations. Boehm will executive produce with Darryl Frank (Under the Dome) and Justin Falway (The Americans) for the upcoming series.
