CBS is bringing iconic detective Nancy Drew back to television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is partnering with Joan Raiter and Tony Phelan (Grey's Anatomy) to develop a series about popular fictional character Nancy Drew. The potential series is described as a modern take on the heroine of the iconic series of novels ... Now in her 30s, Nancy works as a detective for the NYPD, where she uses her super-observant powers to explore the complexities of life in the modern world. Dan Jinks (American Beauty), Raiter and Phelan will act as executive producers. Nancy Drew was created in the 1930s by the founder of Stratemera Syndicate, Edward Stratemaer. The books in the series were written by a group of authors and published under the pseudonym Caroline Keane. The character has undergone changes over the long years of the literary cycle. The franchise also includes six feature movies and three TV series. Bonita Granville played the leading role in four movies, shot between 1938 and 1939. In 2007, the movie "Nancy Drew" was released, starring Emma Roberts. In the late 70s, ABC aired the Hardy Brothers and Nancy Drue series.
