Fox has renewed Empire for a fourth season. The announcement was made during the Television Critics Association exhibition. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Like the second and third seasons, the fourth will consist of eighteen episodes. "Empire", created by Lee Daniels, will return for the second half of its third season in spring 2017, while its time on Fox's schedule is occupied by Daniels' new musical drama "Star", which has been airing since December 2016.
