HBO and Game of Thrones return to Spain. According to Variety, part of the episodes of the sixth season of the fantasy drama will be movieed in Girona, a city located between Barcelona and the French border, as well as in the resort of Peniscola on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The production responsibility will again be taken over by Fresco Film Services, led by Peter Welter Soler. Filming will begin later this year.

In the fifth season of Game of Thrones, picturesque locations in Spain served as a platform to recreate the homeland of Prince Oberin Martell (Pedro Pascal), Dorn. Filming for the fifth season took place in Osuna and Seville for thirteen and twelve days, respectively, after which tourism in Seville rose fifteen percent. The royal alcazar in Seville has become the residence of Prince Doran Martell (Alexander Siddig), and thousands of Spaniards have been hired after the casting announcement.

Continued movieing in Spain means that political relations between Dorn and Royal may worsen in the sixth season A harbor that could lead to war. In addition, after eight out of ten episodes of the fifth season, three key characters of the show remain hostage in Dorn.
