The cast of "The Mummy", which Universal expects to launch a series of remakes of its classic horror movies, could receive an impressive addition. According to Deadline, citing its sources, one of the key roles was offered to Russell Crowe.

What kind of character the Australian actor will play is not yet specified, it is only known that he will resemble "Mr. Jekyll", the hero of the work of Robert Stevenson. It is likely that the studio is attracting an actor of such caliber that in the future his character will become a connecting link for other movies in the series.

Recall that the remake of "The Mummy", which has already begun movieing in London, also involves Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella and other actors. Boutella will play the role of an ancient Egyptian monster. The movie is directed by Alex Kurtzman, a version of which will be based on a screenplay by John Spates.

Recall that the original movie was released by Universal in 1932, the main role in it was played by the generally recognized "king of horror" Boris Karloff. In the future, several other versions were created, including an adventure one, presented to the audience in 1999.
