Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not a sequel to Man of Steel. This unexpected statement was made in an interview with MTV by the performer of the role of Superman Henry Cavill.

"I wouldn't call it a sequel. This Batman v Superman is a completely independent story. It introduces a new Batman and a massive expansion of the universe that began with Man of Steel. Of course, it can still change in editing time, but in general this is a presentation of new characters and, in fact, the Justice League, "- said the actor.

In addition to Cavill, the movie stars Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Ben Affleck, Jena Malone, Jesse Eisenberg, Ezra Miller, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and other actors.

The first episode of Batman v Superman was unveiled during the Summer 2014 Comic-con Festival. Then a teaser was created based on it, released at the end of April 2015. The premiere of the movie is scheduled for March 26, 2016.

In November 2017, the first part of Justice League will be presented to viewers, which will also be directed by Zach Snyder.
