Jonah Hill and Emma Stone will star in the dark comedy Maniac
The streaming service Netflix has acquired the rights to the dark comedy "Maniac," directed by Carey Fukunaga, starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. A project produced by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content is based on the 2014 Norwegian TV series of the same name. In the center of the plot is Espen, a mentally ill patient in the psychiatric department of the hospital, who avoids reality and lives in a fantasy world. At the time of this writing, the search for a screenwriter is underway. Fukunaga ("True Detective") will movie all episodes in full. In addition to starring Stone ("Achiever of Easy Behavior") and Hill ("The Man Who Changed Everything"), they will executive produce with Fukunaga, Michael Sugar and Doug Wald.
