DreamWorks will not renew its contract with Walt Disney, which expires in August. This is reported by Variety with reference to its sources.

Walt Disney's desire to gamble on big-budget serials such as Star Wars and Marvel comic book adaptations is cited as a possible reason. while DreamWorks has specialized mainly in chamber movie projects in recent years.

The alternative is Universal, which still has the headquarters of DreamWorks founder and CEO Steven Spielberg. The Hollywood master was also the producer of Univerasal's highest-grossing movie, Jurassic World, released in 2015. However, the parties have not yet held any formal negotiations on a distribution agreement.

As a reminder, Walt Disney will present two more DreamWorks movies at the box office - "Bridge of Spy", which will be released on October 16, 2015 and "Big Good Giant", which is scheduled to premiere on July 1, 2016.
