James Franco will play the main role, and possibly take the post of director of the movie based on Stephen King's story "Drunken Fireworks". This is reported by the publication Deadline.

The movie will be produced by Rabbit Bandini Productions and Rubicon Entertainment, and will be scripted by Matt Rager, with whom Franco has previously collaborated. The terms of work on the project and its possible rental schedule have not yet been specified.

The story takes place in a provincial town in Maine. The plot revolves around a confrontation between a local auto mechanic and a retired Italian mafia boss, who take part in a competition for the best fireworks on US Independence Day.

Note that this will not be the first experience of Franco's work in movie adaptations of Stephen King's works. In 2016, a television series based on the novel "11.22.63" was released, in which the main character tried to prevent the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy.

In 2017, viewers will be able to appreciate Franco's next directorial project, "The Grave". The actor will also play one of the key roles in this thriller. He will also star in a television series called

The Deuce, a genre characterized as "porn drama."
