Jean-Claude Van Damme cast as pilot Jean-Claude Van Johnson (Topic)

Action star Jean-Claude Van Damme ("Bloodsport") has been cast as the pilot of the original screenplay comedy "Jean-Claude Van Johnson," which Amazon streaming service commissioned for production. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

"Jean-Claude Van Johnson" will bring together Van Damme and Dave Callaham ("The Expendables"), who will write the script and take over as executive producer. Ridley Scott and David Zucker and their studio Scott Free Television will handle production of the pilot, which will begin in mid-May 2016 in Los Angeles. Peter Atencio ("The Last Man on Earth") was appointed as the director of the pilot. The project has been in development since 2014, when Callaham wrote a random script for Scott Free and Van Damme. Representatives of Amazon and Scott Free refrain from commenting.

In the pilot, Van Damme will play a version of himself – a famous actor and martial artist who returns from retirement to regain his former reputation and revive his alter ego – an undercover private mercenary named Jean-Claude Van Johnson. In the comedy thriller Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Johnson's cover for his starring role in the new action movie Huckleberry Finn brings him back to the epicenter of the danger he secretly missed. Also, the hero will meet with Vanessa, his former partner-operative, the love of his life, which left him.

The next full-length project with the actor's participation is Kickboxer, a remake of the 1989 movie of the same name.
