Various virtual reality systems, which are actively developed by the largest technology companies, pose a threat to the cinema. The famous director Steven Spielberg spoke about this in an interview with the British edition of The Guardian.

"I believe that we are intruding into a dangerous environment with virtual reality. I want to emphasize that the only danger I am talking about is allowing the viewer not to follow strictly the director's thought, but to independently choose the angle of view and focus on others I just hope that in a situation where the viewer will find himself, as it were, inside a fictional world, no one will forget that the main thing is a fascinating story, "he said.

Note that Spielberg himself is listed as a consultant to the Virtual Reality Company, and at the beginning of 2016 it was announced that he would oversee the creation of the first movie entirely designed for viewing using virtual reality systems. What kind of movie project was discussed at the time of writing this note was not known.

Let us also remind you that such devices are developed by Facebook (Oculus Rift), HTC (Vive), Samsung (Gear VR) and Google (Cardboard).
