Paramount updated movieing guidelines for Amateur Star Trek

The Paramount Film Studio has announced a list of rules that should be followed from now on by all amateurs wishing to make their movie about the Star Trek universe. The full list was posted on the official Star Trek website.

In particular, the timing of an amateur movie must not exceed 15 minutes, or consist of more than two episodes with a cumulative timing of more than 30 minutes. The project cannot be called "Star Trek", but under its name must be indicated that it is "amateur movie".

If the characters in the painting will wear uniforms or use accessories previously featured in the Star Trek studio movies, they must be legally acquired from authorized retailers. All authors and project participants must be truly "amateurs", that is, they do not have the right to receive a fee for their work. It is also prohibited to involve participants in the official Star Trek movies.

As for funding amateur movies, the studio will not oppose fundraising using any of the popular crowdfunding platforms, but the budget thus formed should not exceed $ 50,000.

As a reminder, in the spring of 2016, Paramount studio dropped out of litigation with the creators of the Star Trek: Axanar fan movie following the backlash from the Star Trek fan community.

Start Trek 3: Infinity will be released in July 2016.
