At the D23 festival in Anaheim, Walt Disney Studios and Lucasmovie unveiled the director for Episode 9 of Star Wars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the creator of "Jurassic World" Colin Trevorrow.
The shooting schedule of the project has not yet been specified, the exact date of the premiere is also unknown. The final episode of the new trilogy is expected to be presented to viewers in 2019.
Recall that before his participation in the creation of "Jurassic World" Trevrow had only the comedy "Safety is not guaranteed", therefore, his experience of working on such large-scale projects is limited to only one movie.
Nevertheless, "Jurassic World" was the main sensation of 2015. The movie managed to set many absolute records, including the best start in the history of cinema, the shortest time in which it managed to earn one billion dollars, and others.
The script for Episode 9 is to be written by Ryan Johnson, who was commissioned by Lucasmovie to create the eighth Star Wars episode.
