Fox returns to Wayward Pines. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has announced its intention to renew the limited-episode series, executive producers M. Night Shyamalan and Chad Hodge's "The Pines", for a second season. Hodge, who was involved in adapting the Blake Crouch novels on which the series is based, and acting as showrunner, will not return in the second season. Mark Friedman ("Believe") took the place of showrunner.

The ten-episode second season will premiere in summer 2016. The story begins where the first season ended.

"The Pines was a big hit for us last summer," Fox Broadcasting Entertainment President David Madden said in a statement. – We were blown away by the mystical and wonderful world that Knight and his team created, and the immersive storytelling that held viewers' attention from day one. In Season 2, suspense, the struggle for the future and dramatic events will reach the next level, and we look forward to the hour when the fans of the series embark on a new journey. "

The first season stars Matt Dillon, Toby Jones, Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo and Shannin Sossamon. It is unclear if any of the original line-up will return for Season 2. Executive producers include Donald De Line, Ashwin Ryan, Friedman, Crouch and Shyamalan.
