SyFy has begun production of the sequel to the 1999 sci-fi movie The Deep Blue Sea directed by Rennie Harlin. According to Moviehole, the movieing, which is directed by director Darin Scott, has already started in South African Cape Town.

One of the main roles will be played by actor Michael Beach, who is familiar primarily to fans of various TV series. The plot of the picture at the time of this writing was not known. Most likely, none of the participants in the original movie will appear in the sequel.
